• Background Information. 848 William de Bunbury, lord of Bunbury, son of Alexander, married Matilda or Maud with whom he had two sons, Hugh and Henry. William died 16 Edward I. Henry, as his uncle had done, took the name Beeston. Hugh succeeded his father.

• Background Information. 917 Patrick Bunbury was the father of Alexander de Bunbury, living A. D. 1230. Alexander de Bunbury had two sons : William, the elder, was the ancestor of the Bunburys of Stanney; and Henry, the younger.
