Bartolomé Romero de Pedraza was an adjuntant when he escaped Santa Fé with Governor Otermíne at the time of the Pueblo Revolt of 1680.

The next year, he was agin referred to as Adjuntant. He was not married at the time, but was called a Native of new Mexico, and forty years old. He was slender, of good stature, having a thick heavy beard and thick wavy hair.

1684 Stated family of 3 persons. Has 2 fanegas of corn. Much of corn harvest was lost to lack of water. clothing is indecent so that even private parts are exposed. Has a saddle, fire-arm, sword and dagger and leather jacket. Living in a hut.

• He appeared on the Diego de Vargas census from Dec 1692 to Jan 1693 in San Lorenzo del Paso, Nuevo Méjico, Nuevo España. ²⁸⁷

Bartolomé Romero de Pedraza, married to doña Lucía Varela, with three children, the son named Matís, nine; Juana, three; and María, nursing. He states that he has been and is his majesty's loyal vassal and he is ready to go settle this kingdom of New México, being given the aid he needs, without which, he could not go.

Bartolomé married Luisa Varela Jaramillo, daughter of Pedro Varela Jaramillo Captain and Lucia de Madrid, on 27 Sep 1681 in Real de San Pedro Alcantara.²⁸⁷ (Luisa Varela Jaramillo was born in 1664 in Nuevo Méjico, Nueva España.)

Witnesses: Sargento Mayor Diego del Castillo (96), Alferez Francisco Xavier (27), Juan Pacheo (36) who knew pair for 10 years and more.
