Robert succeeded Ilbert de Lacy. there is little known about Robert, except that he founded the Cluniac Monastery of St. John in Pontefract about the end of the eleventh century. Tradition says he established the Augustinian Priory at Nostell a few miles away. The records aren't cleart about the de Lacies until the time of Stephen, when on Henry de Lacy, was in possession of the manor.
