Sir Randolf de Dacre was the son and heir of Sir William de Dacre and his wife Joan Gernet. He was pardoned, 16 Oct 1313, for any part he may have taken in the death of Gavaston. At the time his father his age was recorded to be twenty-eight. The King took his homage and he had livery of his father's lands on 25 Sep 1318. He had livery of his mother's lands on 10 Feb 1324/25.
Sir Randolf was summoned for Military Service from 20 Mar 1319/19 until 6 Oct 1337. He was summoned to Councils from 20 Nov 1321 until 18 Oct 1338, and to parliment as Ranulpho de Dacre, from 15 May 1321 until 26 Dec 1338.
Sir Randolf served the King in the marches of Scotland, 1322; Gascony, 1325; and in Scotland, May through September 1336. He was a banneret, 14 Mar 1336/7. He also served as the Sheriff of Cumberland, 1330-1335/6. He was appointed the Constable of Carlisle Caste on 19 Dec 1330, and as a Warden of the March of Cumberland, 2 Aug 1333 and of the Marches of Cumberland and Westmorland 28 Aug, 26 Sep 1334 and 26 Jan 1334/6.
Sir Randolf married, in or before 1315, Margaret, daughter and heir of Thomas de Multon of Gisland, Cumberland, Lord Multon by an unknown daughter of Piers de Mauley, of Mulgrave, Yorkshire, Lord Mauley. He did fealty and they had livery of her father's lands, 30 Oct 1317. He died shortly before 20 Apr 1339 and was buried in Lanercost Priory. His widow, who was born at Mulgrave Castle, on the 20the of July 1300, and baptized at Lythe on the 14th. She died 10 Dec 1361.
