Lawrence Lyster, or Lister, of Midhope, 4 Henry VI (1426). At Michaelmas Sessions at Lancaster 9 Henry VI (1431), appears as "Lawrence, son of John Lyster de Berlewyk." In Jan 1442, Edmund Parker of Colne granted Lawrence Lyster of Midhope land in Merelysden. "Lawrence Lyster" was plaintiff in a case at York, 33 Henry VI (1454/55), against William, son of Richard Wikynson, and William, son of Thomas Wilkynson, both of Newsom in Craven, and Richard and Henry Dogeson of the same. In 1466/67, Richard Banastre of Brokden granted Lawrence Lyster and Christopher his son, lands in Todbarges in Rimington. In 1463, Lawrence Lyster rented the fisheries of Colne. he granted, 20 Sep 1467, to Christopher, his son, and Joane his wife, also the daughter of William Calverley, lands in Pontefact Houghton, Castleford, Whitwoomere, and Hoogil in Craven.
According to a pedigree that came from the deed chest at Thornton, which is entitled, "A descent of ye Lister of Meddope from father to sonne since ye married with ye Heir of Boltons till y purchaseing of Thorton, as doth appear by ye writeings enclosed in this box." Lawrence Lyster married Ellen Banstre, daughter of Christopher Banastre, "as appeareth by a deed bearing date ye 12 Henry VI.," and that he was son of John "as appears by deed of Intayle of 4 Henry VI." (1425/26), which deed is entered in Dodsworth MSS.
