• Background Information. 721 Thomas Dispensator died by 1218. He was probably descended from Elyas dispensator, who was one of the three people enfeoffed in Arnesby by Hugh de Beauchamp. He probably took his name from the Office of Dispenser to the Earls of Chester. this office was that of an under-butler or comptroller who dispensed victuals. ~Boyer's Medieval English Ancestors of Robert Abell, p. 82
