Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Gisele de Bourgogne was most likely the daughter of Guillaume de Bourgogne and his wife Etiennette since her daughter Adelaide, wife of Louis VI "le Gros" king of France, is named as the nice of Pope Calixtus. "This is corroborated by "Guido Viennensis archiepiscopus" (later Pope Calixtus II) addressing a letter to "nepoti suo Amedeo comiti" (Amédée III Comte de Savoie, son of Gisèle by her first marriage) dated [circa 1115] [Vienne Saint-André-le-Bas, Chevalier, U. (1869) Cartulaire de l'abbaye de Saint-André-le-Bas de Vienne, Collection de cartularies dauphinois Tome I (Vienne) Chartarium Viennensium 72, p. 281]."
