bullet  Noted events in his life were:

• Background Information. 151
William Scot II, likely son of the first William Scot, since we know that the first William I is named as the grandfather of Roger Scot, whose father is also called William. He was likely born about 1165 and it appears that he died before 1205. Tradition says that he was married to Joan daughter of John de Swillington, which is possible. The Swilllingtons often show up in documents as witnesses of charters, and Hugh de Swillington was a pledge for William's son Roger.

Another alleged second son of John Scot II was Robert Scot I. The dates that can be associated with Robert makes it more likely that he was a son of the first William rather than his brother. He is mentioned in a charter of his daughter Alice, which is of a early thirteenth century date. The alleged third son of John II, Jordan de Calverley can be seen as "Hugh son of Jordan" who recovered land in Calverley from Roger Scot, circa 1205. This would make Jordon the son of the first William rather than his brother.
