Sayer de Sutton, was found by inquisition dated at Hedon, on the Monday after the feat of annunciation (1292), before Sir Thomas Normanwille, escheator, to have left John, his son and heir, aged 21 years, and Christina, mother of John, to have a third of the rents in dower. The Jury also found that Saher de Sutton held of Isabella de Fortibus, lady of Holderness, by knight's service, a capital messuage in Sutton, valued at a mark yearly.

Sayer de Sutton, quitclaimed, Dec 1279, to Meaux all that the Abbey had given to them by Sayer's ancestors. Between 1280 and 1286, with the assistance of Isabel, Countess of Aumule, he deprived the Abbey of a pature, on the grounds that they had exceeded their rights there. He married Christiane and died before 11 Jul 1270
