Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Thierry of Lorraine was the son of Gerard Duke of Upper Lotharingia. Thierry became the Duke of Lorraine. He married, as his first wife, and her second husband Hedwig von Formbach wisode of Gerhard von Süpplingenburg Graf im Harzgau, and the daughter of Friedrich Graf von Formbach and his wife Gertrud von Haldensleben.

Hedwig married Thierry duc de Lorraine, son of Gerard duc de Lorraine et comté de Alsace and Hadewide de Namur. (Thierry duc de Lorraine was born in 1040-1050 in Alsace, Lorraine and died on 30 Dec 1115 in Lorraine ^160,1022.)
