The primary source which confirms García Sánchez's parentage has not yet been identified. He was Comte de Gascogne and is cited in charters dated about 886/87 and 920.

His three sons (in order Sancho, Guillaume and Arnoldo) are named in the Cartulary of Auch. His three sons (in order Sancho, Arnoldo and Guillaume) and three daughters (in order Andregoto, Acibella and an unnamed daughter) are referred to in the Codex de Roda.


García married Aminiana de Angoulême, daughter of Wulgrin Taillifer Comte de Angoulême et Perigord and Sancha de Septamania. (Aminiana de Angoulême died after 3904.)
