Arnaldo García is named as the son of García Sánchez in the Cartulaire de Auch and in the Codex de Roda, the former specifying that he inherited Astarac from his father. Monlezun names Arnaldo as youngest of the three sons of García, specifying that he succeeded his father in "Astarac, qui renfermait le Pardiac et le Magnoac."
