John Barlow was on of the earliest settlers of Fairfield. He sold his first Fairfield residence and settled on the plain running northwest of Ludlow Square and Concord Field. The area is now called Barlow's Plain in his honor. He was in possession of a large estated by the time his will was dated 28 Mar 1674. In his will he mentions his wife Ann and his children John, husband of Abigail Lockwood; Isabella, wife of Peter Clapham; Ruth, wife of Francis Bradley; Elizabeth, the wife of Daniel Frost; Martha, wife of James BeersI and Deborah the wife of John Sturgis.
