Hugh Fitz Aer, son and heir of Sir John Fitz Aer, was recorded on 25 Feb 1294. He sat as juror on the Great Forest Perambulation of 1300, and died in 1313/5. In 1316, Hugh, son of Hugh, is returned as Lord of Aston Aer.

At the Inquisition, 12 Feb 1293, for the death of Hugh's father, Sir John Fitz Aer, held at Shrewbury, he was thrity years of age. In July 1297, Hugh fitz Aer was returned holder of 20 librates of lands and rents, and was summoned as such to serve in foreign parts.

The King's Writ of Diem clausit on the death of Hugh Fitz Aer bears the date 3 Dec 1313. The Inquest for his death was held at Shrewsbury on 24 Dec 1313. His eldest son was named William. William had married Christina, daughter of John de Redmarley, but he died without issue. His second son was also named Hugh Fitz Aer,and he received Aston Eyre. Rev. Eyton also names three other sons, John, Henry and Thomas Fitz Aer, as well as a daughter named Margery. Thomas Fitz Aer received Wythiforth, in accordance with the Inquest of his father Hugh, in 1313.
