• Dates & Events: 165 - He succeeded his father, and co-ruled for a time with his uncle, the murderer of his father, in 1086
• Land and Titles: 165 --Count of Barcelona in Catalonia, Holy Roman Empire, between 1086 and 1131 --He conquered the town of Balaguer in alliance with the Count of Urgel in 1106. --He conquered, or inherited, the county of Besalů in 1111. --He gained Barcelona's lands when he recieved another part of Occitan territory as a dowry for his third marriage to Dolça of Provence. The area extended as far Nice, therefore he was not in possession of a great deal of Southern France and all of Catalonia, with exception of Ampurias, Urgel and Peralada by 1112. --Count of Provence in Holy Roman Empire, between 1112 and 1131 --He inherited the county of Cerdańa in 1117 in the Pyrenees.
Ramón married Dolça de Gévaudun, daughter of Gerbert de Gévaudun Viscount of Millau and Gavaudan and Geberge de Provence. (Dolça de Gévaudun was born about 1095 in Provence, France and died about 1127-1130.)
