Sir Thomas de Furnivalle
, of Sheffield, Worksop, Grassthorpe, &c., son and heir of Thomas de Furnivalle. On 5 Jun 1291 the King took his homage, and he had livery of his father's lands. He was at the battle of Falkirk 22 Jul 1298. He was summoned for Military Service from May 1297 to 5 Apr 1327. He was to attend the King wherever he might be, 8 Jun 1294, t at Salisbury, 26 Jan 1296/7, to a Military Council, 16 Sep 1297, to attend the Coronation, 18 Janu 1307/8, to Councils from 30 Dec 1324I to 20 Nov 1331, and to Parliament from 24 Jun 1295 to 27 Jan 1331/2. He was summoned by writs directed 'Thome de Furnivall' or de Fournivall' (with the addition, on and after 25 August 1318, of seniori), whereby he is held to have become Lord Furnville. As Thomas de Furnivall' dominus de Shefeld' he took part in the Barons' Letter to the Pope, 12 Feb 1300/1.

Sir Thomas married, 1st, before January 1272/3 (at which date he was a minor), Joan, daughter of Sir Hugh le Despenser, of Ryhall, Rutland, Loughborough, co. Leicester, Parlington, co. York, &c., sometime justiciar of England, by Aline, daughter and heir of Sir Philip Basset, of Wycombe, Bucks, &c., also justiciar of England.

Sir Thomas married, 2nd (pardon for marrying without royal licence, 8 Jun 1322, for a fine of £200), Elizabeth, widow of Sir William de Mountagu, of Shepton Montagu, Somerset, Aston Clinton,, Bucks, &c. (who died 18 October 1319), and daughter of Sir Piers de Mountfort Beaudesert, co. Warwick, by Maud, daughter and heir of Matthew de la Mare. Thomas died shortly before 18 Apr 1332. On 6 Jun 1332 his widow had livery of her dower, and of the knights' fees and advowsons of her dower, all of which had been assigned to her by the King. She died in August 1354, and was buried in the Priory of St. Frideswide (now Christ Church), Oxford.

Thomas married Joan le Despenser, daughter of Sir Hugh le Despenser Knight, 1st Baron le Despenser and Aline Basset Countess of Norfolk. 141 (Joan le Despenser was born before 1266 in Ryhall, Rutlandshire, England and died before 8 Jun 1322 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.)


Thomas next married Elizabeth de Montfort, daughter of Sir Piers de Montfort and Maud de la Mare, on 8 Jun 1322 in England.141 (Elizabeth de Montfort was born about 1275 in Beaudesert, Warwickshire, England, died in Aug 1354 in England 141 and was buried in Aug 1354 in Prior of St. Frideswide, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England 141.)
