Sir Robert Urswick obtained the Manor of Upper Rawcliffe or Uprawcliffe, by marriage with Helen, daughter of Sir William Southworth (1373), who had inherited from the Couplands, and it remained with the Urswicks until two generations later, when it passed by marriage to the Kirbys of Kirkby. Rawcliffe, as it is now called, is situated on the north side of the river Wyre, in the same towhsip as the village of St. Michaels. Helen's brother was Sir Thomas Southworth.

• Background Information: 1591
An inquiry was instituted in 1322, during the reign of Edward II, concerning the possession in land and mills of John de Rigmayden in Upper Rawcliffe, Wyresdale and Garstang. In the succeeding few years, Joan, the daughter and heiress of John de Rigmayden and John de Coupland held Upper Rawcliffe between them. Joan de Rigmayden, the heir of John, probably married William Southworth, as he is described as lord of Upper Rawcliffe a short time later. Ellen, the sole child and heiress of William Southworth, because the wife of Robert Urswick, and their second son, Thomas, succeeded to the estates of Rawcliffe.
