Alan Ceoche, or La Coche, or la Zouche, was the brother of Eudon, Viscomté de Porhoët (1148-56), was recognized as the Duc de Bretagne since they were the sons of Geoffrey, Vicomté de Porhoët and his wife Hawise, the daughter of Alan Fergant, Duc de Bretagne. Alan is first mentioned in England in 1172 when the sheriff of Northants answered for the scutage due from one of the knight's fee on his lands [Pipe Roll, 18 Hen. II. p.37]. He is mentioned in lawsuits between 1175-1190, and as Alan la Zouche of North Molton, he was fined in Devon in 1185 [Pipe Roll, 31 Hen. II. p.162]. Alan la Zouche married Alice, the daughter and eventually heir of Phillip de Belmeis, of Tong, Salop, Ashby, Leicester by his wife Maud, daughter of William le Meschin, of Skipton-in-Craven. Alan died in 1190. [Pipe Roll, 2 Richard I. p.130]
