• Background Information. 713
Matthew, younger son Warin Vernon. He was the father of Matthew de Hulgreve, grantee of Hulgreve who married Mabell de Bunbury.

~George Ormerod's The History of County Palatine and City of Chester, Vol. III, p. 222, Hulgreve of Hulgreve in Minshull-Vernon Pedigree

Ormerod places Matthew de Vernon, the male ancestor of the Hulgreves of Hulgreve and Erdswicks of Erdswick (afterwards Sandon), as the brother of Richard de Vernon of Shipbrook, and the son of Warin de Vernon and his wife, the daughter and heiress of Reginald de Baillot. Ormerod points out that Mademoiselle de Baillot is sometimes described as the wife of Hugh, father of Warin, and Warin is sometimes shown as the brother of Hugh de Vernon.
