~Cockayne's Complete Peerage, (Montagu), Vol. III, p. 428 and Vol. XIV, p. 207, Robert, Count of Mortain, married, 1st, before 1066, Maud, daughter of Robert de Montgomery, Earl of Shrewsbury, by his 1st wife, Mabel, daughter and heir of William Talvas (5th son of William de Bellême, Seigneur of Alençon and Bellême). She was buried in the Abbey of Grestain. He married, 2nd, Almodis. Robert died 8 Dec 1090, and was buried with his 1st wife. ¹⁴¹

Guillaume de Jumièges names (in order) "Robert et Hugues, Roger le Poitevin, Philippe et Arnoul, et les filles Emma, Mathilde, Mabille et Sibylle" as the five sons and four daughters of "Roger de Montgomeri" & his wife Mabile.

She is named and her parentage given by Orderic Vitalis, who lists her second among her father's daughters by his first marriage and names her husband. She married (before 1066) as his first Herluin Vicomte de Contéville & his first wife Herlève. (after 1040-8 Dec 1090, bur abbaye de Grestain).

Matilda married Robert comté de Mortaigne Earl of Cornwall, son of Herluin Vicomté de Conteville and Herlève de Falaise ¹⁴¹.^,782 (Robert comté de Mortaigne Earl of Cornwall was born about 1031 in Mortaigne, Normandy, France, died on 8 Dec 1095 in Abbaye St-Germain-de-Montgomery, Calvados, Normandy ¹⁴¹ and was buried in Abbaye St-Germain-de-Montgomery, Calvados, Normandy ¹⁴¹.)
