Sir Roger Mainwaring, knight, son and heir to Ralph Mainwaring, had two sons. First, Sir Thomas Mainwaring, knight, and Sir William Mainwaring, knight, and ancestor of the Mainwarings of Over Peover. Sir Roger gave his son, Sir William, Over Peover as a gift during the reign of Henry III. Sir Thomas Mainwaring had a son, Sir Warin Mainwaring, knight, married to Agnes, daughter of Sir Peter Arderne of Aldford, and they had three daughters. The eldest of the three, Maud, brought the lands of Warmincham to the Trussell family by marring Sir William Trussel of Cubbleston.
