Eadgyfu of Kent

Very little is know about Ecgwynn (Ædgyfu). Some sources consider her to be a concubine rather than a wife.

Many of these old English names have a wide varity of spellings. I've seen Edgifu divided into two wifes, the second being Ecgwy. I've also seen Edifu's other names as Ecgwyn, Edgiva and even Ædgifu.

Eadgyfu married Edward I "The Elder" of Wessex King of England, son of Alfred "The Great" King of England and Ealhswida Queen of England, about 891. (Edward I "The Elder" of Wessex King of England was born in 871-875 in Wessex, England,⁸⁵¹ died on 17 Jul 925 in Forndon, Northhamptonshire, England ⁸⁵¹ and was buried in Winchester Cathedral, London, England.)
