William d'Aubigny was made the Earl of Sussex in 1177, and Richard I granted him the honor after his coronation on 3 Sep 1189. He did not obtain a restoration of the Castle and honor of Arundel until Richard I restored them to him on 27 Jun 1190, and he became the Earl of Arundel. In 1191 he was made Custos of Windsor Castle and in 1194, one of the receivers of the money raised for the King's ranson. he married Maud, widow of Roger de Clare, and daughter and heir of James de St. Hilaire du Harcouet and Aveline. Willaim died on 24 Dec 1193, and was buried at Wymondham Priory. Children of Maud and William were William and Nochola who married Roger de Someri.

William d'Aubigny, Earl of Sussex, son and heir in 1176/7, of his father by the same name. He was not given the Castle and Honor of Arundel until they were restored to him by Richard I on 27 June 1190. He was, however, styled Earl of Arundel before he however the possession of the caste on 18 Sep 1189. He witnessed a charter of King Richard, 29 Nov 1189, as "William, Earl of Arundel." In 1191, he was made Custos of Windsor Castle, and 1194, he was one of the Receivers of the money raised for King Richard's ransom.

William married Maud, the widow of Roger de Clare, Earl of Hertford who had died in 1173. Maud was the daughter and heir of James de St. Hilaire du Harcouet and his wife Aveline. William died 24 Dec 1193, and was buried along with his father and grandfather at Wymondham Priory.
