Cokayne's "Complete Peerage" (Butler, pp. 447-448). He accompanied the future KING JOHN into Ireland in 1185. KING JOHN granted him vast estates in Ireland as well as the important office of Butler. He is said subsequently to have obtained the valuable monopoly of the prisage of wines. 116
