Sir Robert married Lucy, daughter of Sir William de Ros, to whom Sir Robert gave in frank marriage, land to the value of one hundred shillings, in Middleton and Langbar, with common of turbary and right of tray in the pasture and wood of Nessfield, under a quit rent of a root of ginger to Sir Patrick de Westwick, in lieu of all suit and secular service, save that the tenants were to grind at the mill of Nessfield. Sir Robert died in 1324, and was succeeded by his second son, Sir William Plumpton. His eldest son, Robert, died during his father's lifetime.

Robert and Lucy had a son named Robert de Plumpton who married Joan, the daughter of sir John Mauleverer, Knight, but he died before consummation in his father's lifetime, and his brother, Sir William de Plumpton succeeded to the family property before Monday next after the feast of St. martin in Winter, 14 Apr, 15 Edward II (1322).
