• Background Information. 682 Sir John Davenport, (called also Jenkin, to distinguish him from his elder brother of that name, kinght, justice of Lancastershire, 1384, and who became the purchaser of Henbury. He married Elizabeth, daughter and coheiress of Peter Legh of Betcherton.
Children: Margaret Davenport, married Thomas de Leghes, Jr. Thomas Davenport John Davenport, living in 1366 Nicholas Davenprot de Widford, ancestor of the Davenports of Woodford, living in 1371, and had lands as by indenture in 1413 in Bredbury, Romiley, etc. He married Ellena, widow of Edward Massey, of Timberley in 1371.
