Hervy Bagot, according to Eyton [Hist. Collns. Staffs., vol. ii, pt. I, p.249] was most certainly a descendant of Bagot, who held Bramshall under Robert de Stafford in 1086 [Domesday Book, vol. i, f.249]. A Bagot appears in the Pipe Roll of 31 Henry I [p. 74]. It isn't clear whether Hervy Bagot, of 1166, was the son, grandson or great-grandson of the Bagot of 1086. It also isn't certain whether Hervey Bagot or his son married Millicent.
