• Background Information. 719 Onfry or Humphroi de Veutis, Count of Pont Audemer married Aublice, Dame de la Haie Aubreée about 1027. He was the father of Roger de Beaumont, who by his wife Adeline, Countess of Mellent was father of Robert, Earl of Mellent, in Vexin, afterwards in 1103, Earl of Leicester, and also father of Henry, Earl of Warwick (1068), who married Marguerite, daughter of Rotrou, Count of Perche. Roger de Beaumont died 29 Nov 1094. the houses of Beaumont, Harcourt, and Montgomerie were each related to the other. ~A Genealogical History of the Family of Montgomery, pg. 12
• Background Information. 141 Humphrey de Vieilles, Seigneur of Vieilles and Pont-Audemer. He was the son of Thorold, Seigneur of Pont-Audemer, who had been one of the followers of Robert I, Duke of Normandy, and his name appears in ducal charters as a witness. He founded two monasteries at Préaux, near Pont-Audemer. St. Pierre was founded for monks sometime before 1046, and the other was St. Leger for nuns, found about 1040. He married Aubreye, and he is said to have become a monk at St. Pierre-de-Préaux shortly before he died and was buried there. ~Cokayne's Complete Peerage, 2nd Edition, Vol. XII, pp. 521-522
