The patriarch of the noble family of Say, in England was William de Say, who came to England with William the Conqueror, 1066. He married Agnes, daughter of the renowned Hugh de Grentesmaisnill, by Adelide or Alice, daughter of Ivo, Count de Bellemonte. He was succeeded by his son and heir Geoffrey de Say.
