• Background Information. 732 Sir Robert de Swynnerton succeeded his father in 1361 as Lord of Swynnerton. He was married twice, 1st to Elizabeth, daughter and sole heiress of Sir Nicholas Beck, Knight and Lord of Tene and hopton, in Staffordshire, who died before 1374. They had one daughter named Matilda who succeeded to her mother's inheritance, consisting of the manors of Hopton and Tene as well as lands in Staffordshire. She was married to Humphrey de Peshale, and 2nd to William de Ipstones. Sir Robert's second wife was was named Joan, and they had a son named Thomas who became Robert's son and heir, and was the ancestor of future Swynnertons. ~ The Parshall Family, A.D. 870-1913, pg. 61
