Robert d'Oily, succeeded his father, Nigel, as the king's constable and in the barony of Hocknorton. he married Editha, daughter of Foru, Lord of Greystock and had two sons and a daughter. Henry was his successor; Gilbert, who became the ancestor of the d'Oilys of Chiselhampton; and Editha, who married Gilbert Basset of Bicester in Oxfordshire.
