• Background Information. 141
Robert de Quency, younger son of Saher de Quency I, seems to have gone to Scotland in his youth because there is a record of him witnessing a charter dated sometime around 1163. He obtained lands in Fife, Perth and Lothian by his marriage to Orable, daughter of Nes, son of William, lord of Leuchars. He was also granted the ancient castle of Forfar by his cousin, King William. He accompanied Richard I to the Holy Land in 1190, he was Constable of a force to take aid to Antioch, Jul 1191, and the following Aug of that year, he collected prisoners at Tyre from Philip Augustus. He served the King fighting in Normandy in 1194 and again in 1196. He apparently separated from his wife Orable, and married for a second time to Eva. He died before Michaelmas, 1197.
