Edmund de Staffod, the great-great-grandson of Robert de Stafford, was summons to Carlisle equis et armis in 26 Edward I. He was dsignated in the writ as baron by the description of "Emon' de Estafford." In 27 Edward I, he was summoned to parliment as "Edmondo Baroni Stafford." From that time forth up to 2 Edward II, this is how he is referred to. In 29 Edward I he was one of the barons who subscribed the letter to the pope in the parliament of Lincoln, being then written "Edundus Baro Stafford." He died 2 Edward II, leaving his wife, Maud, daughter of Ralph lord Basset, of Drayton as well as Ralph, his son and heir and another son, Richard, who married Maud daughter and heir of Richard de Camville.

Edmund, Baron of Stafford, son and heir was born 15 Jul 1273. On 20 Aug 1294 he had done homage and was to have his lands. On 4 Jul 1297, he was about to go beyond seas with the King. He was summoned to serve against the Scots in 1298, 1299, 1301, 1302 and 1308. From 6 Feb 1298/9 to 26 Aug 1307 he was summoned to Parliament by writs directed Edmundo Baroni de Staford, whereby he is held to have become Lord Stafford. In 1300, his seal was appended to the Barons' letter to the Pope. On 5 April 1305 he was summoned to treat upon the aid for knighting the King's eldest son, and on 18 January 1307/8 to attend the Coronation.

Edmund married, in or before 1298, Margaret, daughter of Ralph and sister and in her issue coheir of Ralph Basset 1st Lord Basset of Drayton, by Hawise. He died before 12 August 1308, and was buried in the church of the Friars Minors of Stafford. He left a will. His wife survived him, and married, 2ndly, Thomas de Pype. She died 17 March 1336/7, and was buried at Tysoe, co Warwick.
