Laín Calvo is the traditional ancestor of Rodrigo Díaz "el Canpeador." Laín Calvo is believed to have married Teresa Núñez who was the mother of Fernando Laínez and Vermundo Laínez. Ferando Laínez is considered the father of Laín Fernández and his son was Nuño Laínez.
"The "Corónicas" Navarras name "Layn Ferlándiz" as the son of "Ferrant Layniç" [Corónicas" Navarras 2.4, p. 35]. The Nobiliario of Pedro Conde de Barcelos names "Lain Fernandez" as the son of "Fernan Lainez" [Pedro Barcelos, Tit. VIII, Lainez, 2 p. 66]."
