Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Thierry of Lorraine was the son of Gerard Duke of Upper Lotharingia. Thierry became the Duke of Lorraine. As his second wife, Thierry duc de Lorraine married Gertrude de Flandre, widow of Henri III comté de Louvain, and the daughter of Robert I "Friso" count of Flanders and his wife Gertrud of Saxony.
Gertrude married Henri comté de Louvain, son of Henri de Louvain and Adelheid. (Henri comté de Louvain died on 5 Feb 1095 1001 and was buried in Nivelles 1001.)
