William Talbot, born about 1110, was associated with his father and the de lacys in the civil war between Matilda and King Stephen. In 1139, he was commander of the forces of the empress Matilda which he Hereford Castle [Vist. York., 1666, p. 236; Matthew Paris, Historia Majora, Vol. II, p. 167]. Later he was enfeoffed by his second cousin, Roger de Mowbray in two knight's fee of the manor of Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, which he held in 1167 [Visit. Yorks, 1666, p. 236; Lists of Knight's Fees in Lincoln, 14 Henry II]
William Talbot died before 1170, and the name of his wife is not known. He was succeeded by his son, William Talbot.
