"Gregorio de Aviña, says that he is from Mechoacán, and a native of the town of Bayona, Pontevedra, Galicia, España, and legitimate son of Alonso de Aviña, a native of Villaviciosa, and Maria Pérez de Aviña, a native of Bayonne María's father, as said by his Majesty, died at the mercy of His Majesty, in the conquest of Oran and Bufia, and who has been in this New Spain for twenty-four years, and was found in the conquests of Motín and Mechoacán, and from the islands of Cardonas, where he lost more than three thousand pesos, and was found with Your Illustrious Lordship in the pacification of Jalisco, and that he is married, and has four daughters, legitimate: and suffers need, and if he suffers older, but for the continuous favor that Your Lordship has given him in providing him with townships"

Gregorio de Aviña, Galician, son of Alonso de Aviña and María Pérez de Aviña. He accompanied Don Antonio de Mendoza to the pacification of Jalisco. He was also named Gregorio Gallego, and under that name he gave general power in September 1536 to the procurator Diego de la Peña.

He went with the Marquis del Valle to the Island (California) and left many debts; Later he was prosecuted for stealing Indian supplies in the Zacatula mines. Some time later, he settled in Michoacán, where he was married and had four legitimate daughters.
