In some pedigrees, Ralph Langton, who died 9 Henry VI, (1431) at the age of 35, is represented to have married Joan, daughter and coheir William Balderstone. This lady may have had a first husband bearing this name, but it could not have been the baron of Newton. She survived a second husband, Sir John de Pikington, and became a nun. Her will was dated 2 Jan 1497, and she died without issue, so her moiety of Balderstone passed to the heirs of her sister Isabel. Her father, William de Balderstone, was only three years old when Ralph de Langton died.
