Also referred to as Count of Arles & Provence, father of Ermengarde, by his wife Adelaide of Anjou. 140A:19-21 calls William the Count of Provence who married twice, first to Asenda de Comminges and second Adelaide (or Blanche) daughter of Fulk II, Count of Anjou. By Adelaide, he was the father of Constance of Provence who married Robert II, the Pious King of Fance. He was the son of Constance of Provence and her husband Boso II, count of Avignon & Aries, son of Rotbald I.
Guillaume married Adélais d’Anjou, daughter of Foulques "le Bon" comté d’Anjou and Gerberge. (Adélais d’Anjou was born about 945 in Anjou, died on 29 May 1026 and was buried on 25 Jul 1032 in Montmajour.)
