Ralph de Paynel was living in 1141, and was dead by 1153. He most likely married a daughter of Robert de Ferrières and his wife Hawise de Vitré, daughter of Andre, Seigneur de Vitré en Bretagne by Agnes, daughter of Robert comté de Mortain. ¹⁶⁰

Hawise married Robert de Ferrières 1st Earl of Derby, son of Henri de Ferrières and Berta L'Aigle.¹⁴¹ (Robert de Ferrières 1st Earl of Derby was born in 1062-1076 in Ferrieres-St-Hilaire, Eure, Normandy, France, died in 1139 in Tutbury, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England ¹⁴¹ and was buried in 1139 in Tutbury Priory, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.)
