Michael and Catarine Eliza Somer arrived in the Port of Philadelphia October 8, 1737 aboard the ship "Charming Nancy" from Rotterdam, Holland. They had come to join their son Adam Somer, who had come to Philadelphia in 1728. They traveled in company with their daughter in law, Maria Margaretha (Mentz) Somer, Maria's parents, George and Eva Margaretha Mentz and their grandson, Johannes John Somer. Their son Johann George Sommer, would come to Philadelphia the following year.
