Mabel de Esselegh

Sir Henry del Ortiay married, before 17 August 1222, Sabine, daughter (and in that year heir) of Richard Revel the younger, by his wife Mabel, sister (and in 1246 heir) of Walter de Esselegh.* He died before 1 May 1242. His widow died between August 1253 and 2 April 1254.

*All of whom are commemorated in a grant by Henry to Muchelney Abbey. The Rev. E.H. Bates, in an article on the family of de Urtiaco, suggests a possible descent of Walter and Mabel de Esselegh from Bretel, the Domesday tenant of Ashbrittle, etc. Mabel offered 100 marks for her relief, 1246. She d. 1252, when her daughter Sabine was aged 40 and more, the relief being again assessed at 100 marks.

Mabel married Richard Revel, son of Richard Revel and Unknown ¹⁴¹.^,1304 (Richard Revel died in 1222 in Curry Rivell, Somerset, England ¹³⁰⁴.)
