He was King of León in what is today Spain, 951-955.

Ordoño succeeded his father in 951 as Ordoño III King of León. His succession was challenged by his brother Sancho. Caliph Abd al-Rahman's troops launched further raids against Galicia and Castile between 953 and 955, but were defeated by Fernán González Conde de Castilla near San Esteban de Gormaz in 955. In 955, King Ordoño sacked Lisbon and was able to impose an advantageous peace on the caliph.
He married around 941, as her first husband, Urraca Fernández de Castilla, daughter of Fernando González Conde de Castilla & his first wife Sancha Sánchez de Navarr. She married secondly, in 958, her first husband's first cousin, Ordoño IV "el Malo" King of León, and thirdly, Sancho II García Abarca King of Navarre. She became a nun.
Mistress: Aragonta (Gontrada) Peláez, daughter of Pelayo González & his wife Ermesinda Gutiérrez.
Ordoño married Urraca Fernández de Castilla, daughter of Fernán González Conde de Castilla and Sancha Sánchez de Navarre. (Urraca Fernández de Castilla died after 1007 in Iberian Peninsula.)
