Josefa Antonia de Paz Bustilos y Ontiveros, of Spanish descent, was born in Calle de Alameda, Ciudad de México, Nueva España in 1684. Her father was Antonio Xavier de Paz Bustillos, the son of residents of Mexico City, don Francisco de Pas Bustillos and doña Antonia de Cervantes. Her uncle and padrino was Juan de Bustillos. She had a brother named Antonio. The family descends from their earliest andcestors don de Pas Bustillos and doña Luisa de Ontiveros, who were married at the Cathedral of Mexico City Sep 1644, but their connection isn't clear.
