According to Charles Cawley's Medieval Lands, Ermengarde may be the daughter of Richard, "le Justicier," duc de Bourgogne and his wife Adelais, daughter of Conrad Marquis of Transjurania and his wife Walrada. ¹⁰⁰⁴

Richard married Adélaide de d’Auxerre, daughter of Conrad Comté d’Auxerre et Bourgogne and Unknown, about 888.⁷²⁶ (Adélaide de d’Auxerre was born about 859 in Bourgogne and died on 14 Sep 929 in Bourgogne.)
