• Background Information. 141 Adelaide or Adeliza, sister of William the Conqueror, being the illegal daughter of Robert, Duke of the Normans, by Herleve or Harlotte, daughter of Fulbert or Robert, a pelliparius of Falaise, and is mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Comitissa de Albamarla," and as holding some manors in Essex and Suffolk. In 1082, William, King of the English, and Maud, his wife, gave to the Abbey of La Trinité at Caen the bourg of Le Homme (de Hulmo) in Ctentin, "sed et Comitissa A. de Albamarla concedente eo videlicet pacto ut ipsa teneret in via sua."
Adelaide, married as her first husband, Enguerrand II, comté de Ponthieu, who died without male issue when he was killed in 1053. Her second husband, Lambert, comte de Lens en Artois, who also died without male issue and was killed in 1054. For her third husband, she married Eudes, the disinherited comté de Champagne, who had taken refuge in Normandy. Adeliza died before 1090.

Adeliza married Lambert Comte de Lens et Artois, son of Eustace I Comte de Boulogne and Maud de Lovaine.240 (Lambert Comte de Lens et Artois was born in Lens, Normandy, France and died in 1054 in Battle of Lille, Phalampin, France 529.)
