Armengol de Barcelona, "él de Córdoba," was the son of Borell conde de Barcelona and his first withe Ledgarda. "Borellus…comes et marchio…filios meos Raymundo et Ermengode" ordered the security of "castro…Cardona", constructed by "avus meus Wifredus comes et marchio", by charter dated 9 Apr 986, subscribed by "Geribertus vicecomes…Gocefridus frater Borelli comes" [Veterum Scriptorum I, p. 336]. The Chronicon alterum Rivipullense records the death in 1010 of "Ermengaudus comes Urgelli" [Viage Literario, Tome V, Apendice, Chronicon alterum Rivipullense, p. 244]. Armengol and his wife "Geriberga" sold property to a vassal by charter dated 11 Jun 1101 [Bofarull y Mascaró (1836) Tomo I, p. 149, citing Archivo de Ripoll, armario 2 cajón 2, legajo pequeño].
Ermengol married Gerberge de Provence, daughter of Rotbold comté de Provence and Emilde de Gévaudan. (Gerberge de Provence died after 1010.)
