"According to a charter dated 13 Mar 1207, he arrived at the court of León in Nov 1127 in the entourage of Infanta doña Berenguela de Aragón when she married Alfonso VII King of Castile and León [Barton (2002), p. 286]."

Documents from the Monastary of Santa María de Sandoval of the Order of San Benardo reveal the realtionship of the Order and conde Ponce de Minerva, Mayordomo y alferez mayor del rey Alfonso VII de León. One dated 3 Dec 1142 deals with Ponce de Minerva and his wife, Estefania granting the land of Sandoval. There is a letter written by conde Ponce de Minerva, his wife and his children in favor of the Order of Sistericense dated 15 Feb 1167. A donation given by emperador Alfonso on Feb 1146 in favor of conde Ponce de Minerva and his wife condessa Estefania Ramírez de Armagnac of an inheritance in Villamoros.

Ponce married Estefanía Ramírez, daughter of Conde Ramiro Fróilaz Señor de Valdeorras and Sancha. (Estefanía Ramírez was born in 1115 and died in 1183.)
