Pedro Núñez de Guzmán was the son of Guillén Pérez de Guzman and his wife Elvira Rodríguez. Pedro's first wife was Berenguela Alfonso, the illegitimate daughter of Alfonso X "le Sabio" King of Castile and his mistress María Alonso de León. His second wife was Urraca Alfonso de León, widow of García Romeu II Señor de Tomos, and the illegitimate daughter of Alfonwso IX King of León and his mistress Teresa Gil de Soverosa. Pedro's third wife was Teresa Rodríguez of unknown parentage. The name of his mistress is not known.
