In the second year of the reign of King John, Godfrey de Lovaine (called brother to Henri, duc de Brabant) gave 400 marks for the land and widow of Ralph de Cornhill whose named was Delicia, daughter and heir to Robert de Hastings, by his wife, daughter and heir of William de Windsor, and by this marriage acquired the manor of Estaines holden by barony.

Godfrey de Lovaine, younger son of Godfrey III, duke of Brabant and count of Louvain, by his second wife, Imaine, daughter of Louis and sister of Gerard, comtés de Loos, passed most of his life in England under John and Henry III. He was, for several periods, custodian of the honor and castle of Eye in suffolk, which his half-brother, Duke Henry, acquired through his wife Maud, granddaughter of King Sephen. In 1212, the King sent him on a political mission to duke Henry.

Godfrey de Louvain married, circa 1199, Alice, widow of Ralph de Cornhill, recently deceased, daughter and heir of Robert de Hastings by a woman who was the heiress of the Windsor family, with whom he had ten knights' fees and lands in London, Middlesex, Essex and Suffolk. At the end of John's reign, Godfrey de Lovain, was in arms against the King, but returned to allegiance in 1217, when his lands were restored to him. He died before 26 Apr. 1226.
